Old Town Sacramento
Old Town - Sacramento California - Sacramento calOld town Sacramento is a 28-acre National Historic Landmark District and State Historic Park located along the Sacramento River. The area always has a lively atmosphere where you can do lots of shopping, dine, and visit their world-renowned museums which where set within the time of the California Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad. During our visit, the Gold Rush Days era was being celebrated and lots of participants dressed with customs from that era. Eventhough the day was hot, it was pleasant and helped learn a few new things about that time. While we where there, we visited the Railroad Museum which is a place you need to visit if you find yourself in Sacramento. The experience is fantastic because you will see lots of the trains that operated during the gold rush. The black locomotive with the number 4294 on display is the only one left in the world. I believe there where about 500 of them build and the rest of them are long gone forever. This is a huge steam locomotive and I was perplexed when I first looked at it. What about the "Lost" spike? That's something you will learn when you look at the pictures; just pause the picture so you can read it. By the way, the pictures are a little dark but they will give you a good idea about what's inside the museum. Hope you enjoy them
